Game on! What an outrageous celebration we had—the best! We started out by putting on our Santa hats & creating a Holiday Cup Craft. And then off to hear the “Little Christmas Elf” story and sing the Winnie the Pooh version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” And then we switched to our bell adorned Reindeer antlers to sing and perform Jim Reeves “Jingle Bells”, which encouraged us to dance around the tables to “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”. Then we sang Raffi’s “It Must Be Santa.” And then we let the games begin. We first played THE PIZZA WALK (earning a present), and then a HOLIDAY MEMORY GAME (earning a yummy sweet treat) and then a BEAN BAG TOSS HOPSCOTCH (earning a holiday bag of fun). Then we had fun getting involved in a CHRISTMAS COOKIE DECORATING contest (winning a chocolate Santa). Then it was time for our HI PIZZA MAN story to prepare us for our surprise delivery person—who wasn’t a Pizza Snake like we suspected. And then on to our huge feast of; Pizza, chicken nuggets, fresh apples, raisins, fruit gummies and tortilla chips with dips, strawberry applesauce, chocolate pudding and fruit punch. Our bellies were more than satisfied. To wound down the day’s festivities we watched “Olive the Other Reindeer” opened our stockings that Santa filled last night and then heard the adorable story SIX SNOWY SHEEP and then finally took a long hard winters nap. As the big man in the red suit says, “Merry Christmas to all…and to all a good night.” P.S.
*A special thanks to Sharyn & Nick Belkofer for the outrageously delicious cookies, so fancily decorated—they were a HUGE hit. Thank you for making our party extra special.

Happy Holidays from KIDS FIRST Preschool
KIDS FIRST wishes everyone in Chico and around the world a happy, cheerful, and warm holiday season. This is a time for being thankful for all the wonderful things in our lives that we share with our families, friends, and neighbors.

Happy Turkeys
Happy Thanksgiving to all you little turkeys out there. After we created our own little Cookie Turkeys using Oreo cookies, a Rollo, a malt ball and candy corn we enjoyed our interactive Five Little Turkey Felt Magnet Board Song. And then we gobbled to the table and began our feast after singing our Gobble—Gobble Song. We savored turkey, olives, cranberries & raisins, mixed nuts, brownie bites, blueberries, juicy apples, dried fruit, pretzel crisps, cheddar cheese cubes, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, muffins, Bugles, pumpkin pie with whipped cream (of course), cranberry juice and eggnog. And then we got to relax our little turkey bellies by watching A Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving and The Mayflower Voyagers. This year I am thankful to have a lovely new dream house, to live near my mom, to have a remarkably generous friend (Terry Schimke) and amazing brothers ( Christopher Phipps in particular) who have gone above and beyond to help my dream come true. And I am also thankful for my unbelievable wonderful conscientious parents who have raised such adorable, funny and intelligent little turkeys. I am in Chico where I belong, and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you!!! Happy Turkey/Tofurkey Day Chico and Orland!

Happy Halloween!!!
Boo!
Happy Halloween from KidsFirst LearningCenter. Aaaahhh! Little monsters have taken over the preschool! Luckily, they respond positively to candy. We are open to the public today so come on by and meet these wonderful super heroes and Trick or Treat between 3:00-5:30pm. We’re enjoying another year of wild green monster fun. We began with our story Skeleton Hiccups, and then went on to silly games including the Monster Mash Pumpkin Walk winning a pumpkin flashlight, the Pin the Hat on the Wacky Witch earning a treat cup, and then dancing to The Purple People Eater song while playing the Haunted House Bean Bag Toss to win a treat bag. Then we headed to our huge Halloween feast; green apples, orange cheese on rice crisps, purple witches brew, black bat raisins, colorful Jell-O, Halloween cupcakes, wacky cookies followed with icy cold monster chocolate milk—and then we plan to wind down the activities with The Wizard of Oz and Witches in Stitches. Have a super Happy Halloween all you lovely creatures!
Preschool Postman
Our very own KIDS FIRST preschool postman. This wood quality mailbox with envelopes and stamps is incredibly popular. I love how it aides with size differentiation and is made of wood. LOVE. IT.💚

Preschool Pumpkins!!
’tis the season

Every preschool should be so lucky to have a Pootergirl
For your cute overload of the day, you can’t do much better than this story about a preschooler named Kaylieann who loves Supergirl so much, she wears her Supergirl outfit to preschool, but pronounces it “Pootergirl”. Too Awesome.

Kaylieann has always loved the characters Superman and Supergirl. Her dad, Austin Steinbach, told The Huffington Post that she has profound hearing loss and cannot hear the letter “S” so she calls them “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl.”
With inspiration from her favorite characters, Kaylieann rejected the outfit options her parents gave her for school picture day and came up with a better idea.
“She walked up, looked over each of her choices, turned and said ‘Pootergirl!’” Steinbach said. “And well, I couldn’t argue with that answer.”
Voted Third Place in “Best of Chico” Chico News & Review

Get this, Kids First Learning Center was voted third in Best of Chico for teachers! And Miss Lori was the only preschool teacher who made the list! I know! How cool is that? Super excited! Official announcement in the October 13th issue of the Chico News and Review. She says “I’m thrilled to pieces. A humongous thank you to everyone who contributed by voting! I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Hugs!” 📚✏🍎❤ MISS LORI
Preschool is important for Chico’s economic and educational goals
There is a nice article about the positive role of preschool and early childhood education in Utah’s future, but the same is true for Chico’s future too:
My view: Early childhood education is important for Utah’s economic and educational goals.
We are missing a potent opportunity to raise educational attainment in Utah in those with insufficient access to quality early-childhood education, particularly for children from low-income families. Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen summarized relevant research at the Conference on Economic Opportunity and Inequality in 2014: “Children from lower-income households who get good-quality pre-kindergarten education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college.”
At KIDS FIRST, we are proud to participate in the local Valley Oak Children’s Services program and we do our best to work with families because we know how crucial preschool and early childhood care is for young minds.
Please call us today to talk about what your unique situation is.
